Getting inspiration for your new home — October 31, 2010

Category: Timber Frame Construction — Author: Ken

If you are struggling for inspiration and for ideas when it comes to building your own home, why not think about building a home that is good for the environment. Many people don’t realise how much their home impacts on the environment but if you could have a house that utilises rainwater, harnesses energy from alternative sources and has been built using sustainable materials.

Timber frame homes are the ultimate sustainable home. Not only is it good for the environment to have a house that is in touch with the environment but has been made from materials that are readily available in the surrounding area. Timber frame homes are made using the finest green oak. Green oak is grown specifically for the purpose of building homes and it is used because it a pliable wood. It can be carved and shaped just after it has been sawn so it is completely fresh.

The frame for your home is made really quickly and is then transported on site and erected and attached to the foundations, which have been laid. It is then up to you how you complete your timber frame home. You can choose to have it rendered or clad, which are both environmentally friendly.
