About Southern Timber Frame


Southern Timber Frame provides high quality design, manufacture and supply/erect of timber frame componets to both the private and public sector. It has one main site in Longdown, near Ashurst, Southampton, which houses the offices, assembly and storage facilities.

The aim of Southern Timber Frame is provide its customers with products and services to consistent standards, and to meet these standards we have introduced procedures to ensure the highest level of product quality is achieved.

The company provides its services to clients in Kent, Essex, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol, Swindon, Newbury, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Andover, Southampton, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, and neighbouring areas.

Company History

Southern Timber Frame was founded in 1995 by its original partners Frank & Marion Burgess. Frank Burgess had many years experience in manufacturing timber frame for the building industry and Marion is an experienced administrator.

Certification and Health and Safety

During 17 years of growth, Southern Timber Frame has achieved PEFC Certification and has obtained a Q-Mark from the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA). STF is also a member of TRADA and the Federation of Small Businesses.

The company has made Health and Safety a priority, with an in house H&S person. The company also employs a specialist company to assist with personnel and H&S laws and procedures.

Company Partners

In 2006 the business introduced 3 new partners to ensure its continued growth and commitment to quality. These partners are Paul Nash, John Kavanagh and Sean Burgess, who all have considerable experience in various aspects of the timber frame industry, and have been committed to the development of the company in recent years.
